Making Some Progress On An Old Project...

So I have long wanted to put together a craft room for Claire.  Yesterday I rescued a desk organizer that was going to be thrown out at work.  After finding nothing I already owned that would make a good counter-top for it, I went out to Dollarama today, and found a less-than-standard width cutting board for $2.  Perfect fit!

So now Claire has a crafting table, but I need to figure out a layout for this room, to distinguish it from the other two rooms.  I want to re-use as much as possible, as usual, while giving the room a different "look."

...deciding is not so easy!  What do you think?

Layout three is missing because I think I've ruled it out. I think I'm leaning towards the later layouts. You can see that I don't have all the pieces I'd need to make or re-purpose. LOL That crate is very unattractive, but such a good height! It's a perfect stand in for a counter.

  1. Because you ask us what we are thinking about it ... but let say that I am not very confident in my choices in general... I can just say that I prefer the photo number 5. Thank you for sharing these lovely photos ... Where is your photo number 3 ?

    1. Thanks! I think #5 is the front-runner, with #4 a close second.

I didn't include the photo for layout #3 because I thought it was too crowded... I like these four the best! :)

  2. Hmm
#1 looks open and nicely scaled but set up so her back would be mostly to the camera if she is going to use all of her desk.
#2 looks a bit cramped but will work if you don't want too many worktable close-ups
#4&5 -- easy to see what she's working on and a little "TV show" too!

I think I like #4 best -- close enough to see the cute/fun projects (that I am really looking forward to, by the way -- whatya got planned??) a refreshing change of backdrop to make it more 'her space' and enough pullback to see little helpers/more Claire than just a talking torso (was gonna say head, but we just saw that :))

    1. Thanks! I think it is definitely between four and five now... :D

LOL Yes, getting to see more than just the front on, half-body shot would definitely be more fun. (Though Claire's helpers are generally not actually all that helpful.... LOL) She's got some sewing plans I think, once her body arrives! ;)

  3. I love your room sets, they're always to scale and seem like your dolls live there. You have such attention to detail with them.

I still struggle to put one together, one day maybe.

    1. Thanks for the kind words!

I'm starting from an advantage, with the walls and floors from raw-kiss's shop on Spoonflower. I think those are the hardest thing to get right...after that it's just a matter of keeping an eye out for things you can use in a way they weren't intended!

  4. I think my favourite is No.5, I just like how the set looks and I can imagine Claire standing there doing her crafts!
My second fav would be No.4 I think.
PS I like your new blogger heading, it looks really good!

    1. Thanks! I think 5 is the winner! :D Now to start winding scraps of fabric around strips of cardboard for the fabric...and figuring out how to display all the odds and ends of laceweight yarn! LOL

Thanks about the blogger heading...I've declared this weekend The Weekend Of Getting Around To Things That Have Been Procrastinated. Sadly, I have more than one weekend's worth of things on that list.... ;)
