It All Ends In A Cat, Anyway!

I really, really love these cats. (And they've updated their website, too - improved the clarity and amount of information.  And for you dog lovers, they have a drawing of the first dog they are making!)

But I really, really wish there were just pictures of the various size of cats with the various size of dolls - clearly labeled.  I absolutely intend to rectify that by taking pictures with every single doll that I own once my cat gets here! :)

On the weekend, I saw a note on the company facebook that someone had decided the 7cm model was too big for their SD doll.  PANIC!

That would be the size I ordered for my dolls, where Minifee are the adults.  Minifee = much smaller than SD.

Picked up my printout again of the size, and put it beside Ellowyne.  Looks fine.

You may remember I ordered the cat in a state of exhaustion, right?

It occurred to me (now) to check that the printout had printed out to scale.

Ummm...nope.  The size I thought I was ordering is actually closer to the 5cm size. Brilliant I am not.

But maybe the 7cm will look fine when it arrives.  Worst case, I sell the too big one and order again;  not like that's a real hardship!

There is a picture out there of the 7cm with an MSD that's a bit taller than MNF, and I think it looks fine?  But the doll is a little bigger than Claire, so I'm just not sure.  It might be just fine at 7cm. :)

Anyway, in the end I will have a cat for my dolls.  And it will be awesome!

  1. I think the scale photo of the blue cat looks fine. Don't panic just yet.

Not all cats are dainty little things -- our 18 lb maine coon/tiger cross looks HUGE next to our skinny kid -- and we've had guests that stare (likely in horror, non-cat people I suppose) at him and slowly edge away. Some cats are just plain big! :)

    1. That is true! I'm past the immediate panic...if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. But yes, some cats are much larger than others! (My real-life cat is not larger, per say...she's just, ummm..rounder?)

I love the visual of the guests backing away... LOL

  2. Did you see this one? http://www.flickr.com/photos/jular/9522811569/in/pool-2210595@N20/

35 cm bjd with 6 cm cat -- and I think the cat looks a bit tiny...

... why yes, I *have* been looking at these cats all afternoon... I've watched the assembly video a few times too -- I don't think I'd like to change out a head they way they are strung. Too bad the 'raw' kit comes with blank eyes... hmmm... maybe after the holidays...

    1. Aren't they awesome! You absolutely need one... :D

You're right, that one does look a bit small, so maybe the 7cm will turn out to be just right. Besides, it would be just like Claire to go to the Humane Society for a cat and come home with the giant one that nobody wanted! LOL

    2. Did you see their video on making the eyes? They make it look easy, though I have a sneaking suspicion it would take me a lot of practice to get that good at it! LOL

  3. I understand why you are nervous, I too have a hard time undertanding their measures from the site: the doll size comparison would be awesome!!! Mainly because there aren't many user pics out there...
But from the picture it looks quite alright! It will be a big cat and not a kitty but I think it works :) Hope it works well in the end!!!

    1. I think it will work out just fine as a rather large cat. I'm really looking forward to its arrival no matter what. :)

The mistake in measurement was entirely my own fault; should have waited till I'd gotten more sleep! LOL But I do think it will be helpful once there are more out there, with more people stating the sizes...

  4. These cats are brilliant! I am not so keen on the dog from the drawing, I think the cats suit the fluidity of all the joints...not sure the dogs need them though? Maybe if they made a tiny Chihuahua I might be tempted!! I think the scale in the linked photo is good!

    1. They definitely need to make a Chihuahua for you...it would be so cute! :D

And thanks! I think it will work out in the end! :D

  5. I just found your blog, thank you. And am just amazed at how much we think alike, lol. I had just found these cats about a month ago. Haven't ordered yet. When do you expect yours to be here? I see you ordered her on my daughters birthday ;)

    1. Great minds think alike? ;)

They told me it would be about three months, which is pretty standard. I'm really excited about it, as you can probably tell! LOL
