Plans, Plans, and More Plans

It's not long till the last weekend of November now. That's when I get to put up my Christmas decorations and delight in Christmas as much as I like.  I try to limit it to just the one month, in order to not annoy my family members into rising up and killing me.  ;)

It is my favourite holiday!

My Christmas shopping is done, but I still have cookie baking, present exchange with a friend, small people to take to see Frozen in the theatre, and if the snow stays on the ground, we've got plans for tobogganing!  Various familial visits to make.  And of course there is the actual Christmas Day - few things are more fun than watching small children opening their presents.

I've got the dolls's tree all ready to go again this year, and I want do do lots of doll pictures like I did last year, as it was so much fun. The challenge will be not repeating things! Now if my BJD cat should arrive, I am totally set...Cats and Christmas are a hilarious combination to begin with.

I bet you thought they wouldn't get the tree decorated!

I want to make all sorts of little things to be presents to open, rather than last year where I just wrapped up existing props.  I want to do a milk and cookies for Santa picture, most definitely!  If the weather cooperates, I'd love to do some outdoor shots in the snow.

...I wonder if I could do gingerbread houses out of craft foam?  I think I have more plans than I have time! :D

  1. I always have more plans than time, but at least that means I have plenty of projects to pick from, no?

That is a great looking tree -- wherever did you find it? I've been looking but all I can find are stiff sisal trees or flocked-beyond-recognition plastic ones. There are a few props hidden away that I haven't introduced to my gang yet so I've been wanting a holiday setup to do that. I figure I'll let the real kid do the actual unwrapping and presenting...

C'mon kitty, c'mon home! I'm interested to see what you think of the 3-D poly-whatever vs resin. I've been going back regularly to gawk at color choices and squinty eyes -- can't decide between chocolate point Siamese or all black...

    1. I found the tree at Michael's craft store. To be honest, it does look better in pictures! LOL It's more or less a branch off an artificial tree, stuck in some crumbly cement, and the bottom wrapped to look like a bag. I removed the bag part and used a dollar store doily to make a tree skirt that mostly hides the base.

Oh, your holiday setup sounds like a lot of fun, especially with the real kid involved! :D What kid wouldn't enjoy unwrapping extra presents!

I keep telling myself not to expect the cat till January, to prevent myself from sending the creators a daily email saying "How 'bout now? Is it ready now?" like a kid wanting to know if the car trip is over yet. I'll take lots of pictures when it does get here!

Maybe you can't decide between the chocolate point or the black because you are just meant to have two?!

    2. That's how I am with real cats too -- I had to let my husband decide or we'd have been coming home from the shelter with every one I could carry :)
Did you get the fully assembled kitty or the kit? I'm also trying to decide if a few hours of cursing and elastic snapping is worth the savings (and at least then I'd know how to change the head).
I should go to Michael's anyway, thank you! There's a mini holiday diorama trend and I bet they have some cute cheap 'presents' ideas.

    3. Oh, real cats are even harder to decide on!!

I got the fully assembled version; the money saving was tempting, but I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it on my own, so my kitty will be arriving ready to play!

They have a bunch of sales on at Michaels this week too, at least in these parts! :D

  2. Your Christmas display looks so lovely, I'm impressed. We've only just gone into long sleeves here, so I do find it hard to sort of get into the spirit of Christmas, but I notice that each year the shops start to put out their holiday stuff earlier and earlier, so I really do need to get a move on. I really don't want to be in the rush I got myself into last year when I left it to the last moment again and got mega stressed out over it! I did say that this year I'd start my Christmas shopping on the 2nd November but so far I've only bought one thing!!!! Ooops!

    1. LOL I admit that my early Christmas shopping is mostly a matter of absolutely hating the malls around Christmas time. For all of December they are crowded with grumpy people, and that's just no way to enjoy the season!

I haven't even started on my christmas shopping to be honest. Time has just got away from me.
