An Assortment Of Random Things

Still waiting on my BJD Cat.  Actually, the tracking shows that it was processed in Russia on Nov 28th, and there have been absolutely no updates since.  I'm trying not to worry.  Maybe there was a holiday in Russia and so it didn't go anywhere?  Or perhaps they missed scanning it a couple times and it will suddenly update that it has arrived in Canada.  I should look up Russian holidays.

No news on Claire's body being shipped yet, either.  I guess Fairyland just got overrun during all the events they've been running.  It looks like they are going to have another, smaller, one this year as well!

In more cheerful news, I had so much fun putting together a pinterest board of inspiration for Claire's clothing for 2014, that I made one for Emily as well.

A neat thing:  See the perfect 1/4 scale fireplace at Debrah's Daily Dish.  If you scroll back through the entries, you'll see it's origins.  Mostly made from things you'd have around the house!  I would never have thought of egg carton as good brick material, but it looks really great!

Also fascinating, this tutorial to make a bow and arrows, from Antique Lilac.

I'm torn on my doll plans for 2014 - on the one hand, I'd like to make living room furniture, so I have another "room" to work with for the dolls.  On the other hand, I really want to focus on making clothing for Claire, and maybe a few patterns for Littlefee.  Someday when I am retired, I will have copious time and not need to prioritize!  (Or, you know, my list will expand and I will still have more projects than time. LOL)

Anybody else have a Doll Goal for 2014?

  1. I hope your cat arrives very soon, maybe by the time you read this, it will have already done so. Is it normal for it go via Russia? And also hope you hear soon that Claires body is on its way.....it seems to have been a long time since you ordered it.
I really like the outfits you've put together on pinterest board for the girls....I tend to do this but only here on my computer, I tend to save loads of photos in a folder called 'clothing ideas'....I have found some great magazines that have lovely kids clothes, so please email me if you want some more links. I love the clothing that comes from Scandanavia, it is very cool and I'm positive it is your taste, having looked at what you already like.
I saw someones blog last week where they'd been making a fireplace for their Sashas using cardboard and I too was going to give that a go.....notice I say 'was' because I haven't really got time before Christmas now.....and I really would have liked it for hanging their Christmas stockings on!
As for dolly goals, I would like to 'cull' my bjds a little more and not buy any more dolls.....I should really concentrate on buying clothing for them instead but to be honest, I really enjoy making their clothing myself, so I prefer to do that....so what on earth would I spend my money on?!!!! Actually, I think I would like some furniture for them, maybe a table and some chairs so that they can sit down now and again.....poor things are always on their feet!
    Big hugs Sharon xxx

    1. The people who make the cats are in Russia, so according to the tracking, it's never left that country! I do hope it is wrong though. Perhaps it will arrive today.

Oooh, the links to the Scandanavian clothing sound very interesting! I will send you an email when I get home; I'd very much like to see. :D

A Sasha size fireplace would be neat! You could always make it after Christmas, and then you'd be ready for next year! ;)

Furniture is always fun... I know the Sasha's are smaller, but would the 18 inch doll furniture work for them? If you do woodworking at all, Anna White has some free plans for various beds and a picnic table!

  3. I am looking forward to seeing your bjd cats and also Claire and to making your littlefee patterns !
Asking the question for doll plans is interesting but dangerous for me. My wish list is too long indeed ! There are many dolls I would like in my collection like Kaye Wiggs bjds or a bjd from Nympheas dolls which is a French company. I also love Sasha dolls which are really fascinating ... but all these items will wait of course because my bank account is not agree at all with this dolls list ! Then, since I am wise (rather ... I try to be wise), I am looking for a little Amelia Thimble for Christmas. I would like to try to sew and knit very small things for her and it is easier to find furniture for this doll size.

    1. Amelia Thimble is adorable... and she should fit all the dollhouse furniture!

I noticed there are Kaye Wiggs’ Sunkissed Miki, Sunkissed Layla and Gray Tobi for sale this weekend on JpopDolls...I think those dolls are so cute, but fortunately for my wallet, I'm content to admire other people's pictures. :D

    2. Yes, you are right, admiring other people's pictures is really nice also and moreover concentrating on some kind of dolls is also great for crafting / knitting, elaborating patterns and creating a "consistent" (?) family of dolls as you do so well in your blog !
