Catching Up!

It's been pretty busy at work lately, so anything "not work" is pretty slow going right now.

I did finish this little cardigan for Claire, though:

I worked on this sort of "off the top of my head", so there's no pattern, and I didn't take any notes. I just started off and then tried it on her as I went.  Generally, that doesn't turn out too well for me, which is why I didn't bother to take any notes;  now I wish I had!

I used laceweight yearn on larger needles (2mm), which resulted in a very nice thin fabric.  The idea was to have an open-front cardigan with shaping so that it would lie nicely over the at-least-a-cm-the waist of these jeans add to her waist measurement.  I didn't really get a good picture of the sweater, and it is very simple, but it is exactly what I wanted! :)  It's nice when things work out.

Currently I'm working on a dress for Kipling.  I got this lovely laceweight yarn from Knit Picks in "Wonderland Heather", but it is pretty much exactly the colour of Elsa's dress in Frozen, and that's all I've been able to think of since!   I'm using Wovenflame's lovely Lace Pukifee Dress pattern.  I'm thinking Kipling needs a little matching hat and maybe a little white coat to wear with it.  (Winter's here to stay, so might as well take the snow as a theme?)

I don't think I can manage mittens...but wow, that would be cute, wouldn't it! ;)

I leave you with Samara and Edith having a little nap....

  1. I looked all the photos on the blog. They are stunning and certainly works of art. I like the The Residents of The Forest Hills Orphanage, and their Story:)

  2. Aww Edith and Samara look so comfortable.

I love Claire's cardigan. You do such lovely work with these, the scale and the nice yarn and colours you choose. I really need to get to trying to figure out how crochet hats for my dolls. Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to crochet smaller boots for my sister's newborn as the last one I made was too big!

    1. Thanks for the kind words! Crochet hats would be pretty!

Too big boots just means the baby has time to grow into them! ;)

  3. The cardigan is beautiful, I like the colour also, and the combination of the outfit. Oh, mittens are so cute! I'm trying to figure out myself how to make some for one of my large fashion dolls (20"), to assort with a winter sweater, but I don't know how to start :-). Greetings from Belgium.

    1. Thanks very much! I do like green on Claire. :)

The mittens are pretty much beyond my skill level, especially for Pukifee size. I hope you find a pattern or something you could alter for the mittens to got with the sweater - I think it would be cute! :)

  5. Oh just stop, that cute cardigan is making me want a Minifee now, lol!

Actually, I have been looking at Mini sized dolls lately and getting excited by all the nice clothes available out there. I think that means I'm feeling content on the Tiny front.

Oh! And EvetheCat responded on their Facebook page that they *are* developing a cat sleeping head. That's what I've been waiting for too!

    1. LOL Well, you know, one little minifee wouldn't take up THAT much room.... ;)

Yay for the sleeping head! They've just revised the sculpt for the type of cat Edith is, so it won't work for me...but I do so look forward to seeing them! :D

  6. The cardigan is beautiful, you're so clever with those knitting needles of yours. I look forward to seeing the dress you make for Kipling (Such a brilliant name!) .... I love the photo of Samara sleeping with the cat!
But I am a bit concerned about the poor fish, having seen that naughty Edith in the background in the first photo!!!! ;)

I considered Rosencrantz and Guildenstern for Kipling and Cairo orignally, so I think they are pretty happy with the names I chose instead! LOL

I think fish tanks are like Cat TV. I don't know how the fish would feel about it though! LOL
