Behind the Plastic
There's everything from very simple, "I found a perfect spot in my garden" shots, to the most elaborate and amazing of sets, with lighting that would rival a professional portrait photographer's! You have to look a bit, but there are also some neat ideas for making props in there as well, which I love. It's not specific to ball jointed dolls, but dolls and toys in general.
(And honestly, it just amuses me to know I'm not the only one lying flat on the ground in strange contortions trying to get a picture to look the way I want... LOL)
This is an older picture, but it gives a general idea of my "inside" photo setups. The desk is no longer next to the table these days, but an old filing cabinet, which helps to contain the rather alarming amount of tiny "props" I've accumulated. ;)
Yes, this is cool! I love seeing how others deal with lighting and scale backgrounds too. Yours is the first set up I remember seeing online and it really resonated as a way to explore all of the mini and toy interests I have, as well as photography. It opened my eyes to the 'outside the dollhouse' idea.
ReplyDeleteThat cat photo bomb, where all the action figures are giving him the stink eye, is hilarious. I joined. Thanks for sharing!
I love that picture too! Cats just cannot resist making themselves at home wherever they want. :D
DeleteI love seeing some of the more elaborate setups in that group. :)
This is a really interesting group, thank you for the link. I love to see what other people do to get such great photos...mine are all pretty boring I'm afraid. Either the same old lemon tree when I'm at home, or when I'm here at the coast, it's on the deck! I really should be a bit more imaginative, but where on earth would I find props here in Spain!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL You don't need props, you have Spain!! Every time I see your lovely pictures I think it looks like such a nice place to visit.
DeleteThere are some really neat ideas in that group though... :D
