How neat is this tutorial, here, for making stairs/staircases for dolls?
I tend to fail (badly) at working with foamcore. I'm not sure if it's my inability to draw a straight line or my inability to cut in a straight line. Combination of both, maybe?
But those stairs rather make me want to give it another try....there are also some truly amazing kitchens and bathrooms made in a similar fashion at the site. In fact, just go to the tutorials section and admire! :)
It seems to be all 1:6 scale, which doesn't work for me since the "adults" are 1:4 scale, but it does look very adaptable. And really, making stairs looks like an awful lot of fun.... Even making a kitchen looks do-able when you see someone else doing it!
Those are great, I always think that dolls photograph really well on stairs, so to have them in their own size would be a great prop. The only problem is, we don't have that foamcore stuff here, in fact I have no idea what it even is, although I have heard of it. But it certainly looks and sounds very versitile when it comes to crafting.....
ReplyDeleteLack of foamcore is a problem! But you might have something similar - it is basically two sheets of posterboard with a bit of hard foam between them. Wood would be even better, but much harder to cut! (Though perhaps not if you have the tools and experience. ;) )
DeleteWow, a walk-in closet -- my kids should not see that, especially since they're all 1/6 scale and living out of cardboard boxes.
ReplyDeleteI don't know which is better, the tutorials or the fact that she uses them in elaborate photo stories...
Uh oh...better hope they didn't see then! ;D
DeleteThe stories are as neat as the sets, but I just love how real the sets and props look when photographed!
