Today is Remembrance Day, in these parts. I'll be heading out to the local ceremony in a couple minutes, but wanted to post this before I went.
Emily, like one of my small relatives, is attending her first Remembrance Day ceremony today, and is taking that responsibility very seriously.
Awww how lovely. I like that she has her poppy on too. I couldn't get a poppy inland but now we're at the coast I see lots of Brits in particular wearing theirs....and of course it was too late because I didn't actually see them for sale. :( Maybe next year I'll have to make my own.
ReplyDeleteMaking your own would probably be even better....you might be able to solve the "Lost Poppy" problem; they seem to fall off whenever you look away for a moment! LOL
ReplyDeleteEmily's poppy was made from one that lost the pin. :)
What a Beautiful Picture. Here in the USA its called Veterans Day, and ours turned out really special because my brother who is a veteran and I spent the whole day together just hanging out and having fun. Love how very dear your Ante looks, and I had no idea about the tradition of poppies, am going to look that up - Thank You! ~ LuV, TiGGy
ReplyDeleteThanks! That sounds like a lovely way to celebrate Veterans Day with your brother! :)
DeleteYou know, I had no idea the poppies weren't a universal thing, so I've learned something new today! It sounds like our Remembrance Day is a little bit closer to your Memorial Day, from what I read. Interesting stuff!
I like this post and your photo. It's important to remember indeed. I am deeply touched by this post also due to the story of my family.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I enjoyed reading about your great-grandmother Madeleine, as well.
DeleteThank you ... but sorry ... I do not check the google translation ... can be sometimes surprising I think !
