Little Drummer Boy...err...Girls!

Sometimes you just have to make your own fun!  Gathering up anything that can be used as a drum (or a shaker, for Flake), and marching around singing and drumming to "The Little Drummer Boy" seemed like a good idea to Emily and the rest!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas....

Yesterday was my last day of work till January 2nd.  That is a truly awesome thing.  I try to take at least a week off at Christmas every year, because I think the best Christmas present you can get is time to do the things you love!  Whether that is baking with my sister's kids, or setting up some doll pictures. :)  You can see that Flake wasn't being much help though, she was just trying to get into the presents I think!  Pixies!  Can't keep them out of anything!

The residents of Forest Hills are once again getting ready for Christmas, as you can see!  Emily has organized Samara and Kipling to help her make a new garland for the tree.

Edith is very helpful, as always! I hope Kipling has a good grip on that string!

 I wanted to add two more pictures onto the end of this, but sadly Claire's body is still not here. It might arrive tonight though! :D

They're not the best pictures, as I was rather rushed to catch the last of the daylight. But I was good all day, and had to get to trying things out!

Meet Edith:



She is a 5cm Oriental sculpt from this company.

She's not "offically" here in the Dollverse just yet, as I'm waiting on Claire's body so I can take those pictures.  However, I had to get some pictures with the various sizes of dolls I do have here right now, because that was something I found hard to find when I was deciding to get Edith.

Spampy Order Arrived!

I don't make many orders for clothes, as I try to make most things myself.  It's the most fun that way!  But I'll be honest, I hate sewing for Flake.  Loathe it.   She is 9cm tall, and the sheer fiddliness drives me up the wall. LOL

Which is why she got two outfits from Spampy, that arrived last night.  When I saw the dress, I really thought nothing could possibly be as cute as that:



...then I saw the overalls:


Yeah.  Spampy is magic, making the most detailed outfits on this tiny scale.  There are even two rows of stitching down the "side seams" of the overalls.  Worth every penny. :D

Waiting for Claire...

Claire's body is still a month or two away from shipping, but I had the opportunity to pick up a couple things for her the other day.

This is my favourite:



I thought about taking a picture of the drink with one of Claire's extra hands, to show the scale, but I already did the floating head of Claire, so I thought I'd use Flake instead.  :D

Isn't that perfect?  I love the bubbles, and the translucence.  I got Claire a mug of coffee and some cheesies to eat as well.  And then there were peanut butter cookies, which I think Emily and the Pukifee will get into this weekend, if time permits.  I have a small visitor  on Saturday, so it is looking pretty busy!  We have plans for A Really Fancy Tea Party, using the tea set my Aunt made for me when I was small. 

It sounds strange to say it, but I kind of like the waiting time for BJDs*.   It gives you time to try making a few things, to carefully choose a couple items for them...so that you are all ready when they arrive.  There's a lovely sense of potential in the waiting period.  Of course, Claire's not really a new doll, it's just that she is getting a body again, so this is the extent of my purchasing!  She already has a wig and a clothes.

Still, I'm thinking of trying Wovenflame's Lariat Minifee Sweater.  It's been on my Want To Make list for ages, and I have the smaller needles I'd need to do it now.  I tend to knit loosely, so I have a terrible time getting below 14 stitches/inch with laceweight yarn.  I really don't want to try something that size with strands of embroidery floss, so I needed smaller needles. And time!  LOL Because it will likely take me quite a while.

Of course, I have another sweater for Claire that is 80% done, and has been sitting there waiting for me to pick up the stitches for the shawl collar for... um.. a while.  Maybe I should finish that one first!

Flake

Long time, no post, I know!  Between visitors, and working on knitted items for a small person's birthday in September, it's been a busy summer, with not much time for pictures.

However, I did get out today!

Who doesn't love Queen Anne's Lace?  I imagine this flower has a proper name, but I love this name, which is what they are always called around here!  Doesn't it suit well?

Another Catch-Up Weekend!

I'm not home during the week during hours we have much in the way of daylight in winter, so I tend to wait till the weekend and then I have a whole bunch at once, unfortunately! LOL

Anyway, two of today's finished objects:






Both were made with knitting patterns from Wovenflame (with some variation for Flake's top)!

I'm back to working on Nora's laceweight sweater of my own primitive pattern now.

Finishing Things

Added velcro to one of the Pukifee Swap dresses, and the button on the matching sweater.  I just need some snaps and buttons on several things now... LOL

And of course, I had to  take a picture of Flake with the dollhouse, once it was put together, because seriously...that's a lot of cute!
